Handa’s Surprise…. a revised version by 4R!

4R took the popular story written for younger children and rewrote it for an older audience. To do this we worked collaboratively and included ambitious vocabulary, imagery and a variety of sentence openers.

We are very proud of the result and hope you enjoy the story!

  1. On Friday a lady called Catherine Hammond visited us and held an Egyptian workshop, which was fabulous!

I learnt that when a woman or a girl dies they are buried with their cats for protection.

We looked at all the replica objects in the pyramid, and then we were given an object each. My partner was Caolan and we tried to figure out what these were and we found out that they were Gods that kept you safe.

We also looked inside a pyramid, but we needed to find out who was buried in there a man, boy, girl or woman. We played a game to figure out who was buried in the pyramid, we did this by ticking off against the list of objects and all the objects found meant it was a woman. This game was my favourite part of the workshop.
