Happy Easter!

Hopefully everyone will have a relaxing Easter break and we will all return to school healthy and ready for some warmer weather!  We have set homework over the long break which is due in on the first day back.

  • Spelling test: The boys have a personalised list from the spellings that they have corrected over the course of this term.  This is stuck in their planners.
  • Maths homework:  All of the boys have been asked to complete the next 4 Schofield & Sims tests (1 per week).
  • Comprehension: All of the boys have been asked to complete the next 4 Schofield & Sims comprehensions (1 per week).
  • Egyptian mini project:Research and present a mini topic on one aspect of the Ancient Egyptian Civilisation that is of interest to you. You might light to find out about:
    • Tutankhamun
    • Why the Ancient Egyptian Civilisation came to an end
    • How pyramids and monuments were built
    • A Pharaoh
    • Beliefs/gods

    The possibilities are endless!

Here is a link to the Maths games I showed the boys in class today.  These games cover most aspects of maths!  They are iPad compatible.

This week…

English:  We are exploring journalistic writing this week and the boys will be writing their own report based on an event in the book Krindlekrax.

Maths: My set will be looking at a few topics this week.  We are revisiting fractions, missing numbers in number sentences, decimals and general number skills.

This week…

Maths: We are revisiting fractions this week and starting off with a look at fractions of amounts.  Some of the fractions questions are a little more abstract this week and we will be investigating them as a class.  In mental maths yesterday the boys asked me to look at Roman Numerals.  The link below will help:

Weekend Homework

Research what happens to our general waste.  This is any waste that does NOT get recycled.  Keep the research based in the UK.  Notes can be types or written.  This research will support our extended writing next week.
