This week…

Maths:  My maths group are looking at visualising groups of cubes and how to draw groups of cubes too.  In the warm up part of the lesson we will be looking at the beginning stages of algebra where a missing number is represented by a symbol or letter.

English: This week we are using a story called ‘The Paradise Carpet’ which explores the theme of child labour.  The boys will be using this as a starting point to writing persuasive arguments.

Sports day is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning so there will be no swimming.

This week…

We have a busy week ahead!  We have our craft day on Wednesday (REMEMBER GLASS JARS!) and our Cadbury trip on Friday.  This means we are limited on lessons so the week will be fairly brief.  As we are out on Friday and Wednesday there will are no spellings for this week but please continue to work on personal lists.

Maths:  My group are looking at the 4 number operations and written methods.  We will be looking at a range of questions using vocabulary that tries to confuse us (such as ‘find the difference’ ‘what is the sum of’ etc).

There are many games in the link below (scroll down the webpage to see them all!)

English:  We are looking at subject, object and verbs in sentences which will also help lead in to Latin lessons next year.  The boys will also be working on creative writing this week thinking of a gift that they would buy for one of the main characters in our class reader and explaining why.
