This week…

Literacy: We are using Diary of a Wimpy Kid this week as a stimulus for some diary/comedy writing which links in with the launch of the brand new book which was revealed this week.

Numeracy: We are looking at fractions and percentages of amount this week and this will lead into some problem solving and a percentages trail for the boys to solve.

Easter break

Thank you so much for my beautiful flowers, chocolates and wine! I really hope you all have a fantastic break and come back energetic for the summer term. During the holidays I would like you to write a review on the ‘creative arts day’ that we had (on the blog) and do something for the independent learning wall. Here are the ideas you came up with:
Maths
-create a board game
-time yourself completing a times table grid then see if you can beat your old score each day
-create a poster for 2D or 3D shapes showing their properties.
-create a maths dictionary
-make cards (like pairs) to help convert between fractions, decimals and percentages
-top trump cards for maths
-mental maths (online)

Literacy
-journal or diary of a day
-write a letter of advice to a character
-rewrite part of a story you are reading
-newspaper article of an event (real or made up)
-spellings
-handwriting
-write part of a story (beginning is good)
-choose a topic you are interested in and tell me about it
-interview people on a topic in the news
-video diary/news report
-mini books
-record yourself telling a story or reading a book out loud
